Who should take the Food and Drinks Intolerance Test?

Do you ever feel like you may have certain symptoms related to foods, such as headaches, stomach pain, or diarrhea? Do you feel you may want to try eliminating possible triggers, but you are not sure where to start?

A temporary elimination diet is a way to help you pinpoint foods that may be causing your symptoms. This test is not the same as a food allergy test. Food allergies are mediated by IgE antibodies, and symptoms for food allergies typically occur within minutes to hours of exposure. These symptoms are often severe and potentially life-threatening. Food sensitivities, on the other hand, are often marked by a low and slow onset, and involve an entirely different antibody—IgG

How accurate is the Food Intolerance test?

The laboratories with whom we partner are considered industry leaders in their respective areas, with extensive histories and have performed millions of tests. All of them perform frequent internal quality controls and testing, as well as regular third-party testing for independent validation of the accuracy of their testing. Consistently, such validation shows a high degree (>95-99%) results correlation.

Enzyme deficiencies and inflammation can cause food intolerances with no signs of immune-mediated responses. Immune responses are often measured with IgG or IgE levels. Therefore, food intolerances or sensitivities are usually not measured using immunogenics. This can be a common misconception in Healthcare that food intolerances are measured through IgE and IgG responses. However, it is known that IgE or IgG responses can measure food allergies. Food allergies and food intolerances or sensitivities can differ significantly.

Diet and lifestyle are known to be responsible for the development of food intolerances and sensitivities. The known recommendation for medical doctors is that patients may test regularly with AFIL's technology, as often as every three months, before symptoms begin reappearing and new food intolerances develop. Testing frequently is the simplest way for patients to take control of their health and help prevent future diseases due to chronic inflammation.

FAQs

What is a food sensitivity test?

Sensitivities or intolerances can have a delayed response time and usually involve the digestive system or the cellular reaction to a particular trigger. Reactions can take between hours or up to 4 days to show signs, making self-elimination diets challenging due to the amount of single food items consumed over a 4 day period.
This food sensitivity test uses the EAV cellular response from your hair sample which contains unique information about your body's current cellular state. It can identify food triggers and gives a comprehensive insight into your health and well-being.

How can I see my sensitivity test results?

You will be notified via email and text when your test results are ready and uploaded in your personalized portal. Test results are ready in approximately 3 business days from receiving your sample at our testing facility.

Your food sensitivity test kit will contain all the materials you need to take and perform your test at home and mail it to us!

Who should not take this Food & Drink Sensitivity Test?

Your test results can form an elimination diet plan which is temporary. The purpose of this test is to help you pinpoint the exact foods and drinks which may be causing you uncomfortable symptoms.

We understand that elimination diets can lead to restrictive diets (such as anorexia nervosa, binge eating and bulimia), for this reason we do not recommend the Food & Drink Sensitivity test.

Eating a balanced diet is important for optimal health and wellness.

Pregnant women can take the test, however, they should consult the advice from their health care provider, due to the nutritional needs changing.

What is this difference between an allergy and a food sensitivity?

The symptoms of a true food allergy are different from those caused by a sensitivity or an intolerance. Allergies can be severe and life-threatening, involving the immune system.
A food allergy can cause severe symptoms or even a response known as anaphylaxis in some people. Allergic reactions can occur even from the smallest amount of the offending food item, triggering a range of immediate responses. Food allergy reactions can take seconds to minutes to show signs and symptoms.
Food allergies can develop at any time. However, they are more common in young children and usually can be lifelong. Scientists do not yet fully understand why or how someone develops allergies. The most common foods which may cause allergies:

  • Peanuts
  • Wheat
  • Soy
  • Eggs
  • Dairy
  • Shellfish or fish
  • Tree nuts

Allergies are usually identified via a blood sample, skin prick, or scratch test. A blood sample is required to identify the immune system's response to the suspected trigger. The allergy test will determine the reaction of your immunoglobulins (IgG, IgE, IgM, IgA) located inside the blood when that particular trigger item is mixed. Doctors may also use blood tests to help identify immunodeficiencies (i.e., when the immune system isn't working as it should).
Food sensitivities or intolerances are generally milder and do not involve the immune system. Food intolerances usually involve the cells, digestive system, or a deficiency in a particular enzyme, which means that particular food isn't being broken down and digested properly by the body.
Intolerances or sensitivities can have a delayed response time and usually involve the digestive system or the cellular reaction to a particular trigger. Reactions can take between hours or days to show signs. The delayed onset of responses from a food intolerance may mean that food intolerances may be harder to identify due to the many different single items a person may have been exposed to or consumed within that period.

What is nutritional health?

Nutritional Health encompasses the amounts of nutrients found in the body's cells, such as vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. During growth, vitamins stored in the blood, lymph plasma, and different fluids in the body are saved within the hair. The nutrient content in the hair can reflect the nutrient composition of the body. Where there is a deficiency inside the hair profile, it usually means there is a deficiency inside the body.

Minerals are crucial during many processes and in all phases of metabolism. Thousands of biochemical reactions control metabolism, digestion, and tissue regeneration. How effective these processes can be, depends on the specific nutrients. When there is a deficiency of essential nutrients to feed the body's functions, the ability to regenerate, metabolize, or decompose harmful substances may be compromised. While the parameters in the blood can indicate, what is in the blood at any given time, the hair analysis is a record of how the body stores and loses elements. The choice of hair as a testing material is based on blood biochemical parameters changing daily. In contrast, hair values may give a more stable picture of the overall nutritional status of the body.

Hair analysis is invaluable for determining the right diet and supplement program for each individual. Nutrient analysis of hair tissue reflects not only the effects of diet and supplementation on the body but also the effects on the metabolism, coming from stress, physical activity, endocrine, and gastrointestinal functions. What is digestive health?

Threats to digestive health include stress, frequent antibiotic use, poor diet, and other behaviors.

The microbiome consists of gut bacteria, yeast, parasites, viruses, and pathogens. The microbiome is largely found in the gut and can largely influence digestive health. However, it is also present throughout our entire bodies. The body comprises 30 trillion cells and over 39 trillion bacteria, meaning we are more bacteria than human cells! The microbiome is also known as the good and bad bacteria, which we use probiotics, and foods to support.

Using a hair test kit as the analysis can reflect the residue of the microbiome. An imbalanced microbiome may not efficiently perform functions vital to regulating the hair cycle, such as supplying nutrients, synthesizing specific vitamins, and controlling aspects of the immune system.

Understanding which good bacteria is low and which yeast is overgrown can help support digestive health, immunity, and the path to optimal health. The digestive health test is included in the 750+ Food, Drinks, Vitamins Test Kit 750+ items.
